Daybook · The class record

Teach the class.
Daybook keeps the record.

Take attendance and record the lesson. Daybook turns the recording into a transcript and notes you can ask questions of.

Each Daybook plan starts with 14 days free, with 1 hour of recording for the school and no card needed. Add a card before they end to keep going. From CA$41 a teacher a month, in Canadian dollars, billed monthly. You sign up on daybook.elevategrade.com.

See the day ahead. Home lists today’s sessions and the next day’s, taken from the timetable. Your notes follow, grouped by day.
01The problem

Every class leaves a record to keep: who was there, what was taught, what students asked and what is due next time. A teacher at the front of the room is teaching the lesson and can’t also write it all down.

02The solution

Daybook keeps that record. The teacher takes attendance in a few taps and records the lesson in the browser, and Daybook writes the transcript, speaker by speaker, and notes laid out by a template. The teacher can then ask any note or class a question, and the answer comes only from what was recorded.

03What it does
  • Attendance in a few taps

Start the session and everyone is marked present. One tap marks an absence, and a student can be marked late, left early or excused. Daybook works on a phone too.

  • Record with one click

A lesson, a meeting or a conversation, recorded in the browser from the microphone or from what the computer is playing, for up to 15 minutes, and paired with a class.

  • A transcript, speaker by speaker

When the recording is saved, Daybook makes the transcript and tells each speaker apart. Name them, mark which one is you, then search it or copy it.

  • Notes from what was said

Written from the transcript and your own notes, laid out by a template: a lesson recap, a staff meeting, a parent meeting, a 1 to 1 or a lesson observation.

  • Ask anything

Every note has a chat bar, and so do each class and your home page. Answers come only from what was recorded, and say so when the recording doesn’t.

  • Recipes

Saved prompts that run with one click: an exit ticket, a parent update, a quiz, a summary for students who were absent. Eleven come with Daybook, and you can save your own.

04How it works

How a lesson goes with Daybook.

  1. Take attendance in a few taps

Start the session and everyone is marked present. One tap marks an absence, and you can mark a student late, left early or excused. Past sessions nobody recorded are listed for you to catch up on. Daybook works on a phone too.

  2. Record with one click

Record a lesson, a meeting or a conversation in the browser, from the microphone or from what the computer is playing. A recording runs for up to 15 minutes, and you can pair it with a class.

  3. A transcript, speaker by speaker

When you save, Daybook makes the transcript and tells each speaker apart: Speaker A, B, C. Name them, mark which one is you, then search the transcript or copy it.

  4. Notes written from what was said

Daybook writes notes from the transcript and your own notes, laid out by a template. Choose another template to write them again, and say whether the notes felt right.

Ask anything

Ask anything about what was said.

Every note has a chat bar. So does each class, and so does your home page, where it reads your recent notes. Ask a question, then a follow-up. Answers come only from what was recorded, and say so when the recording doesn’t.

Recipes

A recipe is a saved prompt you run with one click. These come with Daybook, and you can save your own.

Who sees it

Who can read what.

A recording of a class holds other people’s voices. This is where it goes and who sees it.

Recordings and notes
Only the teacher who made them and the school’s administrators can read them.
Chats
A teacher’s chats are theirs alone. Administrators can’t read them either.
Transcription and AI
Audio is sent to a transcription service to make the transcript. Transcripts are sent to an AI model to write the notes and answer questions.
Consent
Before recording other people, a school should get their consent.

Each Daybook plan starts with 14 days free, with 1 hour of recording for the school and no card needed. Add a card before they end to keep going. Writing notes again from another template counts like a question, and the notes Daybook writes after each recording do not count. Daybook School for up to 10 teachers, more by arrangement, is part of the platform.
