Marlo · The Tutor

A tutor inside your LMS that shows where every answer came from.

Students ask Marlo about the course and get an explanation drawn from the school’s own material, with the pages it came from listed underneath. Staff ask about policy, deadlines and live records and get the answer with the source attached.

Marlo works with Moodle today, and no other LMS. Setup is a plugin inside your existing instance.

Try Marlo free on this page with a few questions about a sample course. Three sizes, from CA$50 a month per school, monthly or yearly, billed from the day you subscribe. We install the plugin in your Moodle.

Two questions in an MCV4U course: what a derivative is, answered from the course with the four pages it came from listed underneath, and an overview of the course itself.
A drawing of a student at a desk in the evening, chin in hand over an open notebook, with four speech bubbles holding question marks drifting up beside him and the school dark through the window.
01The problem

Students get stuck after the school day, when there is no one to ask. Staff answer the same questions about deadlines and rules by email and text, one message at a time.

02The solution

Marlo answers inside the school’s Moodle, from the school’s own courses and policies, and lists the pages each answer came from. It explains the work and leaves the doing to the student. What it cannot answer goes to a person.

Marlo answers from your documents, with the source attached.

  • School policy and process. Attendance rules, deadlines, submission and formatting requirements, calendars and compliance questions, answered from the documents you upload.
  • Course material. Explanations drawn from the school’s own courses once ingested, with the pages listed under every answer.
  • Live LMS questions. Enrolment counts, ungraded submissions, course completion, report card readiness, prerequisites.
  • Digital attendance, on request. Administrators ask for it and get it from the LMS’s own records.
  • Voice input, and escalation to a person whenever Marlo cannot resolve a query.

Try Marlo

Ask Marlo about a sample school’s course.

This is Marlo answering from the material of a sample school, Lakeside Collegiate. The school is fictional; its material was written for this demo in the style of an Ontario Grade 10 course. Each answer lists the passages it came from.

Questions to try

Each visitor has 5 questions. What you type goes to Marlo, which writes its answers with Google’s Gemini. Your questions are kept with the sample school’s conversations, where our team can read them, so leave out names and anything personal.

In the sample school’s material
  • Two units of MPM2D, a Grade 10 math course: Linear Systems and Quadratic Relations
  • The school’s policy on late work, missed tests and how a mark is made
  • Its rules on academic honesty and on what Marlo will and will not do
  • A demo calendar for 2026-27, with the extra help hours

Marlo explains. It does not do the work. It gives a hint, the next step or an example on different numbers. It will not write an assignment or give the answers to a quiz or test.

Three pieces of administrative work, drafted for a person to approve.

Report cards

Drafted from feedback given during the course.

Confirms the student and course, drafts the comment, fills attendance and midterm or final marks, and produces the Ontario report card as a Word document from the school’s template, for the teacher to download, review and sign.

Transcripts

Incoming transcripts read for review.

Reads an incoming transcript supplied as text and drafts an assessment report, as a PDF and a Word file, for staff to review and approve. The credit decision stays with the principal of record.

Signals

Students falling behind, surfaced early.

When asked, surfaces missing and overdue work and the students who have stopped submitting, so someone reaches them before the term does.

Messaging

One conversation trail inside the LMS.

  • One record instead of threads spread across email, WhatsApp, WeChat and Telegram.
  • Administrators have read access across every conversation, for inspection.
  • Visibility is scoped to the course. Students cannot message each other unless a teacher or administrator creates the group.
  • Group chats, file and image attachments, and who is active.

What Marlo will not do.

  • Marlo explains. It does not do the work. It explains the course material, the rule, the deadline and the requirement, with the source attached. It does not write, solve or submit the student’s assignment.
  • Marlo drafts. A person decides. Every report card, credit evaluation and flag goes to a person before it counts.
  • Marlo assists staff. It does not replace them. The escalation path to a person is built in.
  • Marlo uses your knowledge, not generic knowledge. Answers come from the documents and courses you provide, with the source attached.
