Getting set up

From the website to a working school, step by step.

Two products, two journeys. Margin runs at app.elevategrade.com and a school sets itself up in an afternoon. Marlo lives inside your Moodle, so after the checkout a person from Elevate Grade does the install with you. Here is every step, who does it, and what to have ready.

Margin · The Teacher Assistant

The Teacher Assistant, per school.

Three plans from CA$34 a month, monthly or yearly. Start free with an email and no card, and choose a plan when the free papers are used. You set it up yourself.

Margin, step by step ↓
Marlo · The Tutor

The Tutor inside your Moodle.

Three sizes from CA$50 a month per school. Try Marlo on its page first, choose a size on the pricing page, and we install the plugin in your Moodle.

Marlo, step by step ↓
  • You, the school
  • Elevate Grade, a person or the software
  • Stripe, the card page and the billing portal

Ten steps from the pricing page to a signed class set.

A school sets itself up. Nothing here needs a call with us, though you can book one.

Getting started

  1. You

Pick a plan, or press Try it free

Choose Starter, Pro or School on the pricing page, or press Try it free anywhere on the site. The plan you pick travels with you to the signup page.

  2. You

    Create the account

The signup page asks for your name, your email and a password, and sends a confirmation link. Open it to finish. No card is asked for.

  3. You

    Name your school

Choose a workspace for one teacher or for a whole organization, name it, pick its web address such as yourschool.elevategrade.com, and agree to the terms.

The free papers

  1. Elevate Grade

    The workspace opens

The app sets up the workspace at its own address and sends a welcome email: your free papers are ready. The app’s header shows how many are left.

  2. You

    Mark with the free papers

Create a task, upload the assessment and the papers, confirm the marking scheme and let Margin draft. A teacher reads and signs every mark. The free papers are marked with everything the School size carries, essay marking included.

  3. You

    Choose a plan

When the free papers are used, the app asks you to choose a plan to keep marking: Starter, Pro or School, monthly or yearly. The workspace owner or an admin chooses it.

Paying

  1. Stripe

    Enter the card

Stripe’s card page shows the plan, the price and the terms to agree to. The card is charged when you confirm, so billing starts that day, and the receipt arrives by email. Your credits renew at the start of each period.

  2. You

    Invite the department

Add colleagues up to the plan’s seats. Each grader gets their own login and can create tasks, upload work, review marks and sign them.

Managing

  1. You

    Manage the plan

From Billing in the app: change the plan or the period, buy a credit pack, update the card, download invoices. A change of plan is prorated on the next invoice. If a payment fails, update the card there while Stripe retries it.

Cancelled

  1. You

    Cancel, if you must

A cancellation runs to the end of the paid period, and the workspace waits until a plan is chosen again. The free papers come once per school, so a plan chosen again bills from its first day.

Have ready

Five things, and the first class set is marked today.

  • The plan you want. Count the submissions you mark in a month and compare the plans.
  • A school email address for the account that owns the workspace.
  • The name and web address you want, such as yourschool.elevategrade.com.
  • A card, once the free papers are used and you choose a plan. None is needed to start.
  • One assessment with its answer key or rubric, and a class set, as PDFs or photos.
The emails

Three emails, each at a known moment.

  • A confirmation email when you create the account. Open it to finish.
  • A welcome email when the workspace opens and the free papers are ready.
  • A receipt for each payment, the first one included, with a link to the invoice.

All from Elevate Grade. Replies reach support@elevategrade.com.

Starting is free: sign up with an email, no card needed, and Margin marks a limited number of papers free. After that, choose a plan to keep marking.

Ten steps from trying Marlo to a school that asks.

You subscribe. We install. Marlo works with Moodle today, and no other LMS.

Getting started

  1. You

    Try Marlo on the site

On the Marlo page, ask a few questions about a sample course and see how Marlo answers. There is no account to make and nothing to pay.

  2. You

    Choose a size

On the pricing page, pick Marlo’s Starter, Pro or School size, monthly or yearly. There is nothing to install first and no app login to create: the checkout page is the whole form.

Paying

  1. Stripe

Name the school and enter the card

Stripe’s card page asks for the school’s name, your Moodle address, a card, and your agreement to the terms. The card is charged when you confirm, billing starts that day, and Stripe sends the browser back to the welcome page.

  2. Elevate Grade

    Two emails go out

Within a minute you get the welcome email with your billing dates, the setup steps and the billing portal link. The Elevate Grade team gets a setup ticket with everything from the checkout.

  3. Elevate Grade

    A person writes to you

Within one business day a person from Elevate Grade writes to arrange the install, and confirms your Moodle address and an administrator contact.

  4. Elevate Grade

    We install the plugin

On a short call with your Moodle administrator we install the Marlo plugin, activate its licence, and ingest the policy documents and the first courses you send.

  5. You

    The school asks

Students, teachers and administrators ask Marlo inside Moodle. Every answer carries its source, and anything Marlo cannot resolve is handed to a person.

  6. Stripe

    Each period after

Stripe charges the card again at the start of each period, monthly or yearly as you chose. The invoices are in the billing portal.

Managing

  1. You

    Manage the subscription

Open the billing portal from the manage page, enter the email you used at checkout, and a link to sign in is sent to it. Update the card, download invoices or cancel there.

Cancelled

  1. You

    Cancel, if you must

A cancellation runs to the end of the paid period. The team is told, and the plugin’s licence is switched off after that date, so Marlo stops answering in your Moodle.

Have ready

Four things make the install a one day job.

  • An administrator login on your Moodle instance, or a colleague who has one on the call.
  • Your Moodle address. The checkout page asks for it, and you can send it later.
  • The policy documents Marlo should answer from: attendance, late work, assessment, the school calendar. PDFs are best.
  • The courses it should know first. We ingest them in the order you give.
The emails

One email at once, then a person.

  • The welcome email within a minute of the checkout: your billing dates, these steps, what to have ready, and the billing portal link.
  • A note from a person at Elevate Grade within one business day, to arrange the install call.
  • The invoices, in the billing portal, from the first charge on.

Questions in the meantime: support@elevategrade.com.

Try Marlo on its page with a sample course, then choose a size: three sizes from CA$50 a month per school, billed from the day you subscribe. We install the plugin in your Moodle.

Afterwards

Managing, and cancelling.

The school that holds a subscription manages it, without writing to us.

Margin

From Billing in the app.

Change the plan or the billing period, buy a credit pack, update the card, download invoices, or cancel. A cancellation runs to the end of the paid period.

Marlo

Through the billing portal.

Enter the email on your invoices and a link to sign in is sent to it. Update the card, download invoices, or cancel there. We switch the plugin’s licence off when the paid period ends.

Both doors are on the manage page. Something not covered there, such as moving a subscription to another school: write to support@elevategrade.com from the account owner’s address.

Pick a door and start today.

Margin starts free with no card, then from CA$34 a month. Marlo can be tried on its page, then from CA$50 a month. Or bring a real assessment to a thirty-minute call.
